Global news,
told from India.

The Meridian Index covers breaking news, pop culture and geopolitics for a global audience. We report from the vantage of the Global South, where it belongs at the centre of the story.

How we work

01

Facts first, number up top.

We lead with the concrete fact: who, what, where, how many. Framing comes after.

02

Every source is named.

No “experts say”. If we cite a report, the outlet is named in the sentence and linked below the story.

03

Confirmed means confirmed.

A summit that has been proposed is “floated”, not “set”, until it is agreed. Unverified claims are labelled unverified.

04

The India lens is always labelled.

Our read sits in its own marked block, kept apart from the facts above it.

05

No hashtag bait.

No hashtags, and at most one emoji or flag in a post.

06

Real, credited photography.

Every photo carries its licence and a Wikimedia Commons link. No AI images, no stock clichés, no composites dressed as news photos.

07

No invented bylines.

Stories run under The Meridian Index desk, never a made-up reporter name.

08

Times are IST.

Our name is the 82.5°E meridian, the line that sets Indian Standard Time. Every timestamp on the site is read from it.

The desk posts first on X.

Each story lands there as one line of fact and one line of India lens, with the source named.
